I am using a laptop with a 233 processor on a cable modem and am using xp pro as a operating system, i have been told that this was not a possible combination and that the processor could not operate either xp pro or a cable modem.....i am not a computer guru nor do i claim to be i am just curious

It will work, just not very well. The cable modem is fine on a 233, but XP Pro is a different animal all together.
The majority of problems with XP can be traced to inadequate hardware. In my opinion, and just my opinion mind you, XP should not be run on anything less than a 1GHZ PC with 512MB or RAM. |
I'd suggest a) a free Unix (I know, I know...) or, failing that, b) Win95 or '98 for a 233.
I think you'll find yourself hating life if you have to deal with NT/2k/XP on something that classic; not so much slowness as random crashes (wait, that happens anyway :D ) and freaky core dumps. |
Yep, XP should be left to the big boys with big toys. :D
|
it works fine :D just a little slow, but heh, never tell me it can not be done ;)

ok i was just curious i was told that the configuration that we have should not operate at all but is isnt all that slow and i havent had all the problems stormy has had
