ive started creating some items for a mate of mine, and i came across 2 terms and i dont know what they mean.
1.Keen 2.Holy Avenger Just wondering if anyone knows what they mean, as ive checked in the book and they are not mentioned. |
Keen: doubles the critical range of a weapon - so f.x. if a longsword that has a critical range of 19-20, then a keen longsword will make critical hits on 17-20.
IIRC Holy avenger is a longsword, but I haven't seen it yet myself. |
If a keen longsword would make criticals on 17-20, would a keen lonsword with impro criticals hit on 16-20?
|
no - 15-20

IIRC, holy avenger is just a status of a weapon, usually sword, that gives it special abilities against evil. It also usually has fairly high base enchantment.

wow cool guys! say I wonder, can the effects of Keen be stacked?
|
no they can't, but if you have a weapon such as rapier, or scimitar with a critical range of 18-20, get imp critical, and keen your critical range is 12-20 (if you add sharpness, or vorpal... ouch) meaning a critical hit on 45% of all swings (provided they hit), with vorpal added everytime you get a critical the target loses it's head, unless immune to vorpal)
Holy Avengers are minor affects for weapons, unless you have at least 1 paladin level, in which case they act as a normal holy avenger from PnP (carsomyr from bg2 is a fair, but by no means erfect, example of a holy avenger as far as powers and abilities. |
otu of interest btw, if you have a Keen weapon and Improved Crit the effects stat but don't double.
For instance, longsword Threat Range 19-20 Imp Crit would make this 17-20 Keen would make it 17-20 Imp Crit AND Keen would make it 15-20, NOT 13-20 |
