Hi,
I'm a newbie, both in this forum, and this particular game, and come to think about it: to the D&D rules as well. :S
I hope that my terrible simple and slightly stoopid questions won't get on anybodys nerves! ;)

*I have played the game for a couple of days and have just recently forced the gobin fortress and killed what's-his-nose (Gutma or something..).
here's the question: in my save it says "chapter 1"; how many chapters are there really? Cause I've been playing quite a lot, so "just" chapter one seems... odd.

*Also, come question about my current troop:
I have:

1 female ½ elf barbarian/fighter
2 male halfling rouge (with a little fighter in him ;) )
3 female dwarven druid (i really like this one)
4 male human (asiimar) paladin
5 female -"- bard
6 male moon-elf wizard.

so, does my little army cover all the basis? do I have a chance to survive the game all the way through? (they are at level 6 or 7 currently)

Also, I was thinking about giving my druid some ranger abilities... is this a good idea? And since the paladin seems to stop gettin special features around level 8 or so, I was thinking of having him turn alittle tword clerk, or maybe a fighter. any sugestions?
any other suggestions on the partymembers are wellcome.

~ thanks in advance / Kitiara ~

You may add 4 levels of Fighter to the Paladin later on, but no more. Your party covers all the basics in it's own way, and I don't think you'll have much trouble playing the game. There are 6 chapters BTW.
And the name... Kitiara... rings a small bell in the back of my head, can't put my finger on it... I'll get back to you on that. But anyways, WELCOME TO THE BOARDS, THE GAME, AND TO D&D!!!

Welcome to the boards, Kitiara.

Nice to have someone else to ask some of the silly questions, that's been my role for the last month or so. ;) You've got a decently balanced party, and it should do fine. You should look at what Order your paladin is if you want it to gain any more levels in paladin after you've multiclassed over to cleric or fighter. If you are the Order of Helm, you can multi to a fighter then back to a paladin if you wish. Ilmater corresponds with cleric (of Ilmater, naturally), and Mystra corresponds with wizard.

And BoB, Kitiara was the name of Raistlin and Caramon's older half-sister in the Dragonlance Chronicles.

*snaps fingers*
Yes, that's the thing! Thanks, Aerich!

New Q: how many times can you level up?

@ Bozo of bones: thank's for the info, it's nice to get a perspective of how far I've gotten and how much thats left... Hope it keeps beeing this interresting throuout the game!

@ Aerich: Thank you for welcoming me! Acually, my paladin is of the order of helm, so thats just great! (and yes, you can leave the stoopid-questioning to me, i'm really good at it! ;) )

@ both: Yes, that's where I got the name from! Still "my" kitiara is not like the one in the book. The first PC-RPG i ever played was Arcanum, (2yrs ago or something...), and "kitiara" was my very first character; a ½ elf barbarian. (and of course the barbarian in my troop is the same as her :D )

@ pritchke: I was thinking more on the line of druid:ranger 4:1, or something similar. But, if you can't get to over level 30, then I'll have to try another time. I want to see all the special feats the druids get. :D

Bozos of Bones 12-09-2004 02:16 PM

Nope, level 30 is the cap, and there's no cap remover available for IWD2. :(
And I see you like Arcanum! What a great game that is... *drifts into memories*

Kitiara 12-09-2004 03:49 PM

aha, as I suspected then. Well, then I'll save the "muti-ing" for later...

*aahh, yes... arcane memories...* ;) (but I still play it from time to time, espacially since I like it's diversity with both magic and tech...)

Bozos of Bones 12-09-2004 04:19 PM

Hmm... I think I might install it again, make myself a techie rogue gunslinger and go at it...
Game rules about as much as Icewind Dale 2.

Kitiara 12-09-2004 04:25 PM

sounds like a grand idea... the lack of technology in IWD2 feels a bit strange when used to arcanum. But then again, this game is new to me, so it's gona' be really fun, at least until i find another game to spoil my brain with ;)
