I’m looking for a character that can dish out a lot of damage with a chosen weapon. I’ve just finished the OC with a monk, and while I enjoyed getting loads of attacks and zipping around everywhere lightening fast there was not much damage with each hit (unless it was a critical hit), what I would like now is someone that can dish out uber damage.

Any suggestions?
Cheers.

Barbarian Weapon Master armed with either a Greataxe or a Greatsword.

<stop>

No one can argue with that i believe...

If you want super damage, make your character an half orc.

Simple - Half orc fighter with high strength equipped with:

</font>
 • (improved) power attack</font>
 • weapon specialisation scythe</font>
 • all ability points pumped into STR</font>
 • improved critical scythe</font>
 • Eventually take the weapon master priestige class focusing on the scythe for 10 levels or so</font>
 • Overwhelming critical scythe</font>
This basically means that with a +3 scythe you could dish out:

(2D4+3)+2+10+10 = 27-33 damage per hit with Improved power attack and 25 STR

or quite easily...

(2D4+3)+2+18+10 = 35-41 with 35 STR.

The clever part is critical hits - criticals would be rolled on 17-20 with a keen scythe and (taking 35 STR as an example) deal out (((2D4+3)+2+18+10)+4D6)*5 = 195-325 damage.

That's strong enough to take out dragons on a single blow! Who needs devastating critical eh?

I'm sure there's a way to figure Barbarian into the equation along with thundering rage to boost this critical damage even higher!

Ah, ah, but some enemies are immune to critical hits...so.........

Right you are, but for these creature types you will eventually be dishing out around 175-205 damage per round excluding critical hits anyway. Not a lot can stand up to that kind of punishment

I like the sound of that.
I think I'll play a Dwarf fighter / weapon master using the Scythe. Should be fun.
If I remember the manual you need quite a few feats before I can take the wep. Master levels?

Yep, you'll need Weapon Focus, Expertise, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack and Whirlwind Attack. So bear in mind that you'll also need DEX and INT scores both at 13+, for Dodge and Expertise respectively.

While that would be an effective combo, I would suggest either fighter/wm/dd, or barbarian/wm/dd. Not only will you have a high dmg percentage, but a really tough melee tank, with good ac, and natural dmg reduction. For the OC's, he'd be really tough. Good luck...

I'm having second thoughts. Last night I loaded up the halls of advanced training, made a level 8 fighter 4 wm, and had a go, (dam training room kept spawning undead!!! D'oh) but I can see the novelty wearing off after a while.

So I had a think, what are ironworks thoughts on a 2 handed weapon finesse focused fighter? Not sure what weapon(s) so any suggestions?

Also after playing a level 13 monk with 4 barbarian levels (for extra 10% speed) while wearing the dark moon robes, I zoomed around the place, it seemed to take a life time to get the level 1 fighter across a room, is there anyway to speed up a character?

Well a few questions there.
Cheers.

Sorry but IIRC you can't have a two handed finessable weapon. Most finessable weapons have to be small or tiny sized.

Inregards to your other character the only way to speed him up is to get him some boots of haste
