A cleric spell cure light wounds usually do the trick, it might take a couple or more depend if you attacked it first.

It's a empathetic manifestation of hate and pain. It feeds off these emotions and says so to you. To kill it you have to do the opposite, that is heal it. Cast a healing spell on it and it will die. Cure light wounds will work providing you haven't attacked it. Turn off party ai so they don't attack it by themselves.
