GAME SEEMS TO RUN FINE UNTIL I TRY TO SAVE OR GO INTO OPTIONS TO CHANGE KEY CONFIGURATIONS AND THEN IT KICKS ME OUT TO THE DESKTOP WITH A 225 ERROR CODE.
CAN ANYONE HELP?
IF YOU NEED MORE INFO ABOUT MY SYSTEM JUST ASK.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Yes, we will indubitably need info about your system. Especially the Video card. Update the Display drivers and maybe try different resolutions.

What version of Wiz8 do you have installed? (Should show something like "v1.2.4" in the top-right corner of the main menu). If it doesn't, you should try downloading and installing the 12_23 patch from the Wizardry 8 web site.

Edit: Also, is your keyboard connected via USB (narrow rectangle connector) or PS/2 (small round connector with 5 pins)? If USB, check the XP USB driver.

i thought i had installed the patch correctly however it still reads 1.0 so i must be doing something wrong when installing it.
any ideas would be helpfull

Two things:

1) Do not use WinXP's unzip feature (has been the root cause of so many patching problems), use WinZip instead.

2) Ensure the "Use Folder Names" option is selected.
