Warning about Skyrim -- FULL of Bugs and crashes!

Got it for Christmas, and have tried 10 different times to get into it..
I WOULD have fun, but it crashes every 10 mins to an hour.. most of the time its a black screen, and cannot get to the desktop, so you gotta reboot..

It MAY be a great game, but I can't tell yet. Will wait until they patch it again.
(It also REQUIRES steam, which is crap, and a waste of RAM)

My system EXCEEDS the max requirements.. with 1.2gig ram on video even...
About to upgrade to Windows 7 64bit, and see if it does any better... :(

I even tried the beta patch 1.04, and the video freaks out at the intro, when you enter the town. lame... latest drivers, and latest direct x...

They just expect us to beta test it, like their other games.. grrrr

Thanks for the heads up Z

I will give it a miss for a few months ..... and anyhow just had my laptop stolen last Thursday, so the main PC is being used by the missus for work - oh well :(

Have not had an issue with it, though I have used until the latest patch a number of mods to optimise the engine, ram and graphics.

I have some issue.

My screens have black lines all over it. I had to use an ENB mod to fix it.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2531

After save number 1000++ , my game starts to randomly crash. It was okay before.

Some npc is not teaching the supposed skill. They are teaching the wrong skill.

Some quest will have problem if done wrongly.

I just have a faction and the main quest left to do, then I'll be done with this game.

Wow that's terrible. I'm having heaps of fun with SWTOR at the moment, one of the best story MMOs I've ever played.

I got the Collector's edition of Skyrim and yes it had a crash bug if your computer has only a low end duel core and less then 4 gig of ram. I also had trouble playing Rage on my Duel Core. In January I got so mad at my Duel core with windows XP That I retired to my wife it and went to Best Buys a picked up a duel Quad core 3.2Ghz with 16 gig Ram, Duel ATI Cross fire equipped and windows 7 and direct X 11. So far the only game that has gone Black Screen on me is COD Black OPS when I cranked up all the settings to super high. Since then I toned it down one setting and haven't had any problem.
I restarted Skyrim, and because of Steam all I had to do was hit play and it told me to put in the disk and reload the game no game codes or reregistration . I had to start over but I was having so much fun before I didn't mind because I had already blasted through and won the main mission.
With the New restart I'm taking a different direction and started with different missions and quests that I never did the first time. Best part is NO MORE BUGS Skyrim runs like a dream.

I can see where everybody with Computers with 2.0 -2.8 microprocessors and running Direct X 10 can get pissed and I did too. Bethesda is good at under rating the requirements of their games and even when you have a great Video card you still have to turn the settings down to very low or you spend more time re-starting your computer then you spend playing the games.

Okay, I got Windows 7 installed. And OMG, it actually has yet to crash once. :) yey!
The Direct X 11 makes it also look so much better... and I installed the 64 bit version, so all 6gigs of ram are available! weee! :D

I did do a dual boot.. XP/WIN7.. Win7 doesn't like my scanner. plus, I used some things in XP for 3D Max 32 bit. (Also use the 64 bit mode in win7).. really nice.

Gonna get another 6 gigs of ram since its only $45 for GSkill 1600! When I got the first 6 2 years ago, it was $147... BIG drop in price. Its Tri channel memory too.
Gonna need it for 3D Max soon.. after I get my hand surgery soon. (Getting a second opinion)

Re: Warning about Skyrim -- FULL of Bugs and crashes!

BTW, when I installed Skyrim on Win7, Steam's 'SteamGuard' said I had to 'register a new PC'.. uh, its the same PC, diff OS.. so I went to enter my PW, and they would send a conformation email--which never arrived.. (and it wasn't killed with a spam filter) I got other emails from steam.. So I had to boot into XP, log in, turn OFF steamguard, log into Win7, log in, then I turned it back on..

Geez.. Steam is crap.

Yep, that's prolly one of the reasons why i can't be bothered with Skyrim, it's like having the KGB watching over your shoulders all the time. :D

Well that, and my addiction to WoW of course LOL.
