I'm still in Chapter 1 but I've been wondering. Is resting different than it was in the Baldur's Gate series? Does time pass, or is it just a convenient way of healing your character?

Et tu? I think the manuals says it's 24 hours of time. But when I stop it early the day and night don't change. I don't know, really. But I suspect that nothing really happens...

I am just starting Chapter 3 and am of the same opinion as Draconis. It seems to me the only thing resting seems to do is replenish any spells. I could imagine that my character seems a little 'sharper'. Like not getting beat up so bad in a fight but I think that is only coincidence. There seems to be no dream sequences or plot progression related to sleep as in BG.

well,if you put your mouse cursor on lower right you'll see some time there. but really have no use in the game.

I assumed with the way you sit down to rest and you can see stuff happening around you, that it would be possible for monsters to come and disturb your rest. But I've never had that happen. Has anyone?

Yes you can be interrupted... all that has to happen is a hostile come into you Line of Sight and you stop resting.

Oddly enough no game time passes except for the 30 seconds.... it doesnt progress in time a day or anything  . But an interesting thing i found is that spells come back in levels. You 0 level spells come back before you are half way through resting, and so on.. so if you only want to recover your 2nd level spells you can rest till they come p then cancel the rest .... fun ;)
