I'm starting my first fighter/thief. I figure I'll spec. in bows (short maybe) and longswords. I was thinking I should dual wield, but I can't do that and carry a bow at the same time, and I hate switching back and forth. Should I even bother with any of the weapon styles? Also, other than bows and long swords, what weapons should I go for? Shortswords maybe?

Please, no spoilers, I'm just looking for advice on proficiencies.

Furthermore, would being an elf affect the romances?

If you are only doing SoA, then Katanas and Short Swords.
