IS it possible to solve the Planar Sphere quest without Valygar...I mean can I gain acces without making him part of the party or do I have to kill then???

Actually he IS the key, so I don´t think you can do it without him. But what´s the problem? Just get him, drop another char(one for whom it is not so important to level up as fast as the others), do the quest, get your old char back. or get hit to join you, then use him to only open the sphere, then drop him, get your old char back and finish the quest.

Killing him really isn't a problem my main character is a paladin most of the time and there are no consequences if you kill Valygar and use his body to get into the sphere-you don't have to kick anyone out of your party then.
