I'm off to a slow start and was thinking about starting over with fewer characters. Right now I have 3 Warriors, 1 Rouge, 2 Mage. I was thinking of going with just 1 Warrior, 1 Rouge, 1 Mage. Then using the money tricks to workout/join guilds right away as I level and kill rumphy to get to good levels faster. Maybe level 10 - 12 each before I even go to the other side of town. Is this recommended if I make a backup of my current save games?

Also, where can I go to reset rumphy once I kill him? In another post somebody mentioned "outside of the catacomb area" Where exactly is the boundary for that area? I've got the map printed out so a room letter would be cool.

Thanks for the help.

Room "H" - Statue of Kerah Room should reset Rumphy.

Jord,

What makes you think you are off to a slow start?? From what I could tell from your other posts, you seem right on target for this point in the game.

If you check in the BEST TIPS thread, you will find a post about playing the first section of the game (crypt area) and then resetting the game to replay it all again - as a means of pumping up characters early on. Perhaps that strategy would be to your liking.

For first game through, I prefer the full 6 party. THere is more protection and it is easier to carry more loot and stuff. It is easier to spread the skills out among more characters too.
For my own first party I had 1 warrior, 1 rogue, 2 priest and 2 mages. I found that a very good starting party and once I started changing their roles, very flexible.

As far as backing up your saves - if you are saving to more than one slot you should be fine unless you have other problems on your machine which might cause damage to all your gamexx.sav . For any one game, I keep 4 different saves going : 1 for town, 1 for out side a dungeon and 1 or 2 for within the dungeon. I've never had to go back too far in my game to correct a mistake or accident ;)

Hope that is of some help!

Wyv

Cool, thanks for the encouragement. I will check and reset the game so I can do the quest over again. Also, does the difficulty level determine the xp amount I would get from monsters?

I'll let you know how it goes in the morning.

If you're concerned about a slow start, don't take a rogue with you. Take a Fighter than you move into barbarian ASAP. That way, you can join guilds in the first town and you'll have more HPs.

Jord, it's ok to be a little anxious your first time through.
It takes some time to play this game.
I was that way myself and I wanted to develop all those high level skills right away and wanted to rush through dungeons to see what was next.
The second time through, I really took my time, did as many quests as I could, and just enjoyed all the different sections of the game. (there aren't a lot of games out there that I enjoy at any stage of the game like W&W. it's well designed and replayable)
Next time i play, i'm going to try to do some of the stuff I missed last time, and I'm going to try some different classes that i've never played. Maybe run a 3 person party too.
