I am in the Material Plane(?) after going through the planar sphere, and I need help on beating the demon(s). Should ikill them or their minions firstt? Which demon should I try to beat, Tsomething or Lsomething?

The easiest way is to go to the left, kill all imps and then the Tana'ri (I think). With that heart you can go back...
Killing demons:

I think you'll need at least +2 weapons to kill those demons. Just haste yourself, defensive harmony, chant...
The demon isn't that hard...

The Tsomething is the one you want to deal with - Tanar'ri, I'm assuming you mean. He's the demon whose heart you need. My advice: send in a scout, let the T summon his little flapping helpers and back off - and let the little dweebs follow you. Dispatch and kill, and then throw as many combat spells as you can on your party and rush the big T. Save before the fight and after you have killed the Mephits, because killing the T isn't easy without taking any casualties.

Killing the Lsomething is advised, though - he has a nifty little item.

uh, where/how is this?

ive only done the sphere twice because i could never find a demon to kill. once i actually exited and used a gate spell but the fiend didnt leave anything behind...

spoil me.

After you have talked to Lavok, and he tells you to go find a demon's heart. Then you leave the sphere and go to the left(west) Shortly you will run into a demon Tsomething, who you have to kill. Fromm him you get a heart.

The material plane is the normal world you live in btw, not the place you find the demons in.

if there are two and you don't know which one has the correct heart - just kill them both and check their corpses.
