Well...I've just started playing this again, and I've a Q in who should be at the VERY front.
It was all simple in BG2 when you could have rolled for a god-high abilities :D but not in this.
So, I've a question - should a diplomat character be infront all the time no matter what or do I have to micro so I have a char ready to talk when he/she has to?

Because right now I'm planning to use this party -

1.Half-Orc FIghter/Barb
2.Dwarven Fighter
3.Tiefling Rogue/Fighter or Ranger
4.Moon Elf Cleric
5.Wilf Elf Sorceress
6.Half-Elf Druid or Ranger

Leader in IWD2 should not be a monk or paladin because they'll refuse quest rewards. also leader should be durable enough because mostly enemies will target him. A leader does not have to be a good diplomat ( anybody in your team will do ) but there are some unescapeable cases in the game where the leader have to talk.

Well, I've chosen a druid who's gonna be a shapeshifter - with 12 dex and con so she is able to take a hit. (or two :D )

What forms do come recommended?

Take a sorcerer and buff him up, that's a great talking machine. Arm him with a reanged weapon so he/she stays behind as the rest of the party lurches foward. Trust me, take a crossbow, you'll know why.

I keep changing the order of my party as the guys in front gets way more experience than the rest. IWD2 doesnt distribute exp equally. Say your six char party kills sth worth 15xp. The first three characters will get 3xp, the others 2. This way the leader extremely often (5 times out of 6 with six chars) get 1 more exp per kill than the last guy in the party. With the amount of enemies you dispose of in the game this does make a diff after a while.

IT evens up nicely later on.

:D crossbows are key in this game :D

Why crossbow? is this because crossbow does more damage than bows? what about the rate of firing for crossbow? isn't it slow?

An even distributuion of such missile weapons in the party is the way I treat crossbows an bows. It's nice to have a bit of variation.

Give x-bows to casters and bows to fighters, rangers etc.
