I have guest to deliver scroll to stout guard, but I cannot enter into Stout Mines!
There's some gatekeeper that asks some 'writ' to able to enter into mines...
But I don't have it and don't know where to get it?

The guest was from that Bushi Dojo men, and he gave me paper that must be delivered to stout guard... That paper don't allow me to enter into mines.

What to do? where can I find this 'writ' ?

Please help me, Im stuck!

To enter you need one of the following two things:

1) The Minerīs Writ
2) Boogre Brew

If you havenīt been to the boogre caves yet go for the writ. Itīs northof the stout mines in a small glade beside the body of a dead stout. If you want the exact location look for the f here.

Remember, you need to use the Writ to get out of the mine as well!.
Had me confused for a while!.

The game really doesn't give you any clues as to where to find the writ but thoroughly exploring the area on the way to the Stout Mines will result in it being found. One of Scanthril's quest also leads you to the writ - again the location isn't pinpointed.

Glad you have the writ now, Olli Kalma!!

I can't help adding one more "spoiler" related to the Writ.
The Writ is also related to the Assassin promotion quest. When you talk with Scanthril, he will send you to find Grundel first. Grundel is the dead body near the Writ and - the Writ seems so be the quest item you need for Scanthril now. Then you can ask Scanthril for the "job". Therefore:
1. If you already have the Writ then DO NOT go through the dialogs at Scanthril and ask "Job" immediately. You should be given the "job". According to my experience, going through the dialogs may clobber the quest!
2. If you do not have the Writ then ask "Dread" first and obtain the "Find What Happened to Grundel" quest. Go to Grundel, take the Writ and return to Scanthril. Now, ask "Job". You should be given the "job".
The Assassin quest goes okay only if you are given the "job". If you do not get the "job" then something has gone wrong and you should restart. Always save game before talking with Scanthril.

Does this mean that you need Writ to promote assassin?!?!
That's nice! When I leave from Stout Mines game crashed somehow and that gatekeeper gave me writ back twice! And when I re-entered into mines he gave me writ twice again! And when I re-leaved mines same happened again!
Well now I have 4-5 ( can't count anymore ) writ and ready to go on!
Does it matter on later game, that I killed stout king? Well I got 3 Dragon platearmour and lot's of nice stuff... Now I feel sad because what I did...
Did I ruined my game?

You need to finish the job to become an assassin. That means you need to enter the stout mines, which means you need a writ. You can find the one outside, or you can trade some Boogre Brew for one, if you need to.

I don't think the writ actually serves as a quest completion item. I think that discovering the body may be enough.

Don't let the multiple writs bother you (at least too much). I've often carried four or five, just 'cause Pastorolio keeps throwing 'em back at you. All you need is one, although some people apparently ran into problems with too many of them.

As for the king, the only impact is on your conscience. The game will play out just fine whether you've killed him or not. Many of us believe that if the game were not rushed out, then your actions (like killing NPCs) would have impacted the game's play. But it was (rushed, that is), so they don't.

Thank's again Bungleau!
I think I get that job now and enter into Dragon Sprire later...
But I have Ninja warrior and Rogue. And I have Samurai warrior too...
Which Should I train assassin? Is there any requiments or something that I should know?

Radek 10-23-2002 04:34 AM

No special requirements. Even a mage can become an assassin. Only one thing, assassins seem to be best when they are equipped with daggers. If you have a dagger specialist then think about promoting him to an assassin. But an assassin equipped with swords is also very good.
As far as the Writ is considered, Bungleau may be right. I posted the message because I wanted to prevent others from getting frustrated by not gaining the "job". Naturally, if you find the Writ, you also find Grundel and have completed the first Santhril quest "on fly". Most probably, if you let the Writ be and return to Scanthril after seeing Grundel, the quest would be completed, too. But - I always took the Writ when I saw it Perhaps, it's time we made an errata: replace "have the Writ" with "have seen Grundel at the Writ" in my post.
Anyway, Scanthril will not take away your Writ. You will not offer it to him. Because you have seen Grundel, try to ask "job" immediately. that's all.
