Well one thing that should be done first is to find out the why's of such shocking behaviour. Year in year out such crimes are committed and of course people quite naturally seek punishment of the culprit.

But could more be done to prevent this crime in the first place? Where are the help lines for 'stuffed up sickos' that have these desires? Where do they turn to seek help? There are great help lines for abused kids or women that pave they way for a support network of highly trained people to help the victim. But what about the mentally sick perverts who have probably been sliding down this path of evil for some time before an act is committed. I'm not sure what can be done (are there any psychiatrists (sp) on the forum) but we have to ask ourselves, wherever in the world you are, are we doing enough to prevent such evil?

a_decent_1, I'm sorry to say this in a blunt way, but your posts are sometimes very hard to decipher due to your "1337-speech". Could you try and type English sentences and words instead of the abbrevations you're using right now?

This is not meant as an insult, please don't take it that way. I'm just having a hard time picking up the information in your posts.

To the mines with them!

I know WHY such behavior occurs -- people are randomly born of abberant behavior or their experiences in youth will drive them into it. Either way, I'm all for hanging them on the courthouse lawn.

Isn't burying a crazy murderer alive, despite all his maliciousness, cruel? Wouldn't a brief execution be sufficient?

Actually, it's the suffering that matters most. If you talk to the victim's families who get to watch executions, the peaceful slide-away to death that lethal injection provides rarely gives the families any closure. Now, having th shock the guy 8 times on the electric chair in Florida -- the families usually feel more sated.

I could not believe it when I heard yesterday that New York reported that they had been giving Viagra to convicted sex offenders of children as young as 2 years old, being payed for by taxpayer money. Now that they realize their mistake, they will begin working on fixing that loophole, but sheesh!

To answer the first question, the US does not have strict enough punishments in the law for sex offenders of minors, and it is just wrong for me to consider that a convicted man still has the right to things that he should not in my opinion. This conversation has come up many times in the past on these forums, and we are no closer at solving the matter.

I would have the parents of the child be given a choice in the matter as to what should be done to a man that has harmed a child of theirs. It just seems right to me, since I do not like how the law prevents those wounded by criminals from having any active part in the sentencing. I suppose I say this for one reason. If somebody were to harm my child, I would not wait for the law, I would live by the "old ways" and hunt the man down myself, and carry out my own form of execution. I would have to. It was my child, not the judge's. I'd then flee to Mexico, where I have friends.

But you did not read that last bit, right? :D

And to confirm what Link just asked of you, a decent 1, you have proven that you write very good in English, so the laziness of incorrect abbreviations is really annoying and hard to read sometimes. We do not like that stuff on these forums. Please try not to write in such a manner.

I think either chemical, or surgical sterilization for offenders should be the very first step taken upon their conviction. I realise that sexual organs aren't necessary for molestation, but it's a step and may reduce the chance for repeat offending (what would they remove after a second offense *grimace*)

However what that @55hole will get in prison will likely be worse than anyone of us could think to do to him, there are few crimes that get you treated worse in prison than hurting children,

Yeah, that's what I'm worrying about. Shouldn't the purpose of execution be to prevent any further crimes from happening rather than satiating the victim's wish for vengeane?

Basically, I have no problem with execution as long as it isn't done in an inhumane manner.
