Aganazzar's Scorcher is simply DEVASTATING when used strategically...
My sorcerer used it against to crowds of orcs and simply wiped them OUT!!!! It was DEVASTATING! Just ONE level 2 spell!!! :D :D

I cast it once, against a tightly banded group of attacking shadows, had the mage walk around so the flames hit a bunch of them. Took a sizeable chunk of like outta them. Seems sometimes the lower level spells do more damage than the higher ones. *sometimes*

....Chromatic Orb springs to mind... especially the D&D 2.0/5 one(kills, hehehe)
Agnazzar's Scorcher is great, but later becomes less usefull as it disables the caster for the duration, which is long... But Snowball Storm is great too!

I like using Aganazzer's Scorcher against badly injured Trolls - as since it has the initial hit and extra duration hit factor, it can often kill them without resorting to fire weapons.
Its a good spell, but you have to ensure you have a clear line of fire to safeguard your other party members.

Usually however, I prefer flame arrow or chromatic orb although admittedly these are more for single opponents, whereas Agggies Scorcher has the potential to do as Jrkasperov describes if the enemies are perilous enough to run into its line of fire.

And those dumb orcs WILL :D

Chromatic does a GOOD job against those spellcasting malarites and orc shamans! They get stunned everytime and that gives me time to sneak up my strong rogue to stab 'em down! :D

This game is really getting more fun as you develop strong tactics
