It has been a while since I installed W&W on my new pc. I was too lazy to apply the virtualdub thing after a couple of abortive attempts. The problem is that I have forgotten whether I patched the game.
Is there any easy way of knowing?
I had no trouble with the toad in the tunnel problem. Does this tell me that I'm patched? or is it just a fluke?

I never had trouble with the toads and I never patched so doesn't necessarily say one way or another.

Go to the BEST TIPS thread and find Saz' post on what the patch does do and what it takes away - that will give you a list of things that you can check out to determin if you are patched or not.

I believe the "gold cheat" in the inn is one of the things that gets killed by the patch and that is certainly an easy test to run.

Is there a particular reason why you want to know if you are patched?

Or you can try passing a quest item.

The patch does nothing for the stuck toad problem. It does, however, prevent you from interrupting anyone's dialogue. So just go into a guild or shop and try to switch characters while the proprietor is speaking...

And while I think of it, that may only work if you're completing a quest. Normal discussion may be interrupted. Give it a shot and see what happens

On a third thought, you might check the time and date stamp of deep6.exe, and check its size. Mine is 2.19MB, with a stamp of 12/8/00 at 10:02:14AM. Odds are I wasn't installing it at that time, so that may be the actual creation time. And I play patched, BTW.

Bungleau's advice will do the trick. If you're running Windows 2000/XP you might even be able to find which version of the file you are running. Don't know if the patch adds a little 1.01 or something in the bottom left corner at start up.
