Hehe, I just found this
It says:

Hey HL2 Gamers!

Recently, one of the HL2Files.com members here, alerted me of a pirated warez version of Half-Life 2, apparently released via the Bittorent network. I immediately, forwarded this to Gabe Newell of VALVe Software. [The great man, we should all be thanking for Half-Life 2 big grin ].

A couple of hours later, Gabe replied with the following:
</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Quote:We're running a bit of an experiment. We're keeping track of the accounts that do this and will be shutting them off.
So, as you can see, VALVe Software have released a test "warez" version aimed at catching people out. These people will have their accounts deleted and will be banned from Steam.

Therefore, I strongly suggest that you DO NOT participate in these illegal activities as it would only lead to your own harm.</font>[/QUOTE]I think thats a great idea...
So I hope none of yous warez lovers are downloading it now...

I bought it but i could let as many people use my copy as they want. only problem is that they would have to use my account.

Hmm, but there are people out there with either no firends or a heap of cheap-ass friends and fast internet connections.

yeah many people could use one copy but if one got pissed off they could stuff it all up for all of them. to use it you have to set it up to work offline. It saves all the passwords so you could change the account with out any knowalge of their password.

Awesome! A punch in the face toward piracy!

Meh... I can still buy the fake version here and get away scot free... give it a month ;)

It's just a matter of time and HL2 will be hacked for real, it'll be seen as a challenge to too many guys out there.

Since there's an offline mode for Steam I really don't have a problem with the game... it's a clean anti-piracty solution, but personally I download hacks for just about every game I have that does a CD check... just so that I don't have to have to search through hundreds and hundreds of cd's to find the one needed to play a darn game.

A buddy of mine had a problem getting authenticated to play on wednesday, and if that started happening regularly I WOULD have a problem, but I think it was just the first day overload.

lol, I just found out that over 20,000 accounts have been banned because of illegal CD Keys that were used...

So if you are using a CD key from online....DONT, you will be banned.
