umm, no, all areas are open to everyone no matter which NPCs they use. just certain things will happen if you have certain NPCs in your group when you get there. and the Underdark is part of the storyline, so its hard to NOT go there...

------------------
It's simple. Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury. The amount of energy gathered depends on the size of the injury...What would happen if there was an injury that threatened the very life of the Planet? Think how much energy would be gathered! Ha, ha, ha. And at the center of that injury, wil be me. All that boundless energy will be mine. By merging with the energy of the Planet, I will be come a new life form, a new existence. Melding with the Planet, I will cease to exist as I am now. Only to be reborn as a 'God' to rule over every living soul.

Super Sephiroth, slayer of the Uber Fluffy, and battle co-ordionator and defender of the HADB clan.

Diplomacy is all and well, but HADB is better!

Yup, all the areas are open, no matter what your NPC choice.

You may not miss out on the locations or the storyline, but your choice of NPCs does influence, to a certain degree, what quests you take and how much fun travelling is...

My thoughts are with America

There's some side quests which require some NPC's, for example you cannot get in x, or mr. x does not appear there if you dont have miss y in your party. A friend of mine has lots of quests with Jaheira but I did none of them because she's not in my party. But there's some quests which you dont need them in your party like Nalia's. But it does not effect main storyline
