BG2 EE various questions

Rather than post several new threads I shall list some questions on one thread if and feel free to answer one /some or all :)

1) XP for opening locks. Sometimes with Nalia or Imoen I get low XP of about 950 with Yoshimo i get up to 2750 but with my evil thief I sometimes get 3250 per lock.

Is this XP scale a result of character or random lock difficulty?

2) Dorn bug After switching Dorns allegiance to a new master I finally "share his bedroll' - role playing y'all :) ..... but next morning I can not get him to follow the party anywhere. He still shows as a party member but only takes two steps at a time if I click a destination for him to go. In a battle he does nothing but stand there.
