I got the illitium and i'm supposed to give it to this stone-cutter guy, but i read in another post that you might as well give him the fake stuff and use the illitium yourself. I went to the dwarf to get something out of it, but he tells me i need some kind of special mace? Where do i find that mace? The illitium is weighing a LOT and Minsc is the only person in the group capable of carrying it...

You can find it in Bodhi's Lair in the Graveyard District. Chapter 2 must be finished to gain access.

In the meantime, store the Illithium in a chest or drawer somewhere. It will stay safe and sound until you return with the other item you need.

Personally, I used a chest in a building near the item improving dwarf's workshop.

Just don't leave it on the ground, things disappear that way.

I use this method to store all the items I pick up during the game, and it saves alot of space...trust me!
