I'm playing the game through again (for a change...) and I've gone for the old favourite of a bunch of six shady characters.

1. Half Elf Assassin (Stealth 140 and lockpicking 70)

2. Dwarven Fighter/Thief (A Locksmith and trapdisarmer - 145)

3. Human Bounty Huntress (Trapper - 150, and detects illusions - 90)

4. Human Swashbuckler (General spread)

5. Half Elven Jester (Picks pockets - 105, causes confusion)

6. Gnome Illusionist/Thief (Massive pickpocket skill - 240)

I'm having a ball.

Anyhow, my question is:

Has anyone noticed distinct effects of detect illusions?
Does it work like true sight?

So far nothing new for me. :(

Is it a furphy?

It's so funny. No healer and rest till healed on.

Once they rested after a battle for 40 days!

Now thats more believable!

Yorick,

If you start your game and re-import your different characters into the top slot, they each get inate abilities. Not that a couple of extra cure light wounds makes a difference, but maybe you would have only had to rest for 38 days.

Hugh

detect illusion is absolutely a life saver at many battles

all you need is maybe one thief with high detecting ability, and have that thief constantly hide in shadow and detect while combating mages

it detects the following as far as I know:

illusionery monsters (eg: the tent at Wakeen)
mirror image
project image
invisibility
mislead
and whatever other illusion magic

my favorite move is have my assasin move behind a mage's back (who has mirror image on) then detect, once his mirror image is gone, following an immediate backstab! bah bam!! very cool

edit: Gnomes are especially good at detecting illusion

Yeah, good point. It was either that or the Jester or Illusionist theif, as the straight kits plus fighter/thief were mandatory!

Ah well, what do brigandes need with a religious sort eh? ;) :D
