Have tried several times to get Irenicus to "flee", but end up losing too many party members! How can I do so w/o losing anyone?

I used Monster summoning III, summon fire elemental, and invisible stalker. Then your party members can just work on their doubles and let the summond beasties and the freed mages work on good 'ol John.
