Just completed the game with all NPCs and now I'll like to try a pure multiplayer game. Really want your opinions about this party. I will not have any multiclassing this time, instead concentrating only on dual-classing. Got some burning questions to clarify though.
1)Somewhere it's stated that Paladins, rangers and druids cannot be dual-classed. But can they be dual-classed to? Meaning like I dual from cleric to ranger or paladin?
2)what about kits? I know that a character can only have one kit when dual-classing. However is there a restriction that the kit must be either the former, or the latter class?
3)In dual-classing, how is the THAC0 and all class perks/abilities inherited after the character advanced enough to use both classes?

Now, i got these characters in mind, what do you think guys? can check for me whether it's even viable in the first place?

1)Paladin undead hunter
2)1/2 orc berserker
3)fighter dual to specialist mage(possible?)
4)"
5)Thief dual to Monk(possible?)
6)(Berserker or fighter) dual to Cleric(possible?)

Got a hunch that thief monk is impossible because monk cannot dual? if not then i'll go for thief dual to ranger archer?(or multiclass?)just wanted to try out different styles of play. So anyone got any other killer combos? (personally i find kensai dual to mage has too little AC to be a tank)

all feedback appreciated! Thanks!

I think rangers and druids can be dualled/to. Paladins and bards can't.
You can dual class a character with a kit, but you can't dual class to a kit. For example, you can dual class an assassin to a mage, but not a mage to an assassin.
And the process of a dormant class coming back to life is just that. A fighter/mage inherits his fighter's old THAC0, proficiencies, saving throws, etc.
Three, four and five are out. You can't dual to a specialist mage, only a base mage, and nobody can dual to a monk. Instead of a thief to a monk, dual a level nine or so fighter to a thief. Very basic, potent class whose thief abilities will continue to increase.

I don't think there can ever be a duel class paladin (other than through hacking, if possible), but I think ranger is possible (since I have read some cleric/ranger posts some time ago, though I am not sure). And so far whenever I duel class my characters, I can ONLY choose the kit for the original class (or the former).
As for the characters, I think 1, 2, and 6 are possible.....personally I like my human fighter/mage or berserker/mage (particularly since the new patch fixed the annoying ber/mage bug, I can get close and personal with those liches).

arrggggh..some it's not possible to get dual to a specialist mage!!! (calms down) but it's okay.. did some experiments and noticed that a ranger can dual to a cleric!(but of course that's a rather useless dual).

Got another *important* question,-> if i swashbuckler dual to fighter can I even don on armor, and if i do, what are the penalties incurred on the benefits as a swashbuckler?

ok, i'm dead set on..
1)paladin undead hunter
2)(x2)->berserker dual to(dt) mage

for the rest(and for fun),
thinking about a ..

1)pure monk (is it really that superman?)
2)swashbuckler! i just read about it and i love it so much i'm even considering making it a pure class->never liked backstabbing anyway! But actually, i'm also considering swashbuckler dt mage.
3) 1/2 orc berserker dt cleric!

toyed with archer but thought that the penalties are really too steep.

any comments, and can verify viability?

How did I dual-class my theif to an illusionist if its not possible, I think it is on the merit that I did it.

Armisael 12-13-2000 01:43 AM

A couple of things. First, you really don't need three berserkers.
Also, you're forgetting that only humans can dual class. That means no half-orcs.
And omegadawn, you didn't. That's a gnome. Gnomes can only be illusionists, and gnomish thief/illusionists are quite common.

Whoops, That was bg1 where I dualed Imowen from a thief to illusionist. They both used the same picture so I got them confused. Plus Im playing both games concurrently. Sorry about any confusion They must of changed the rules for bg2.
