Well guys, I was going to give you details of the new computer, but my boys said it was not a good idea to post it on the forum as some unscrupulous people, not yourselves but visitors who look at the forum will have the means to hack into the computer. We have have many viruses sent to this old computer and have at such times had to replace many parts on it because of it. Suffice it to say that I will be getting the best available from the Computer Parts stores to upgrade to the best I can find! Doing it yourself can save heaps on a middle man doing it for you. It will probably take a few months to do and I know it will be great in the end. I have Wizardry 8, Might & Magic VIII & X waiting to play. As soon as I have the required parts I will go straight for Wizardry 8. I have had it since it first came out and can't wait to play it.

Enjoy the new comp... as soon as you have it together

PS: most viruses get to your comp thru email or by visiting site with questionable morals and tricking you into downloading it. If you simply monitor your email, make sure who/what/when/where/etc is going on you should be relatively safe :)

Do enjoy the new computer, morningstar... and as for people hacking in, simply posting a description of your components won't do anything. The only thing they might use on this site is the IP address (see that link down there that says "IP logged"?), but only moderators can see what that is. Regular folks like you and me are prevented from seeing them, and that's tracked whether you tell us or not.

So the paranoia level doesn't have to be quite so high, unless you're fond of sending along your social security number (or other government ID), mother's maiden name, bank account numbers, and so on.

And BTW, the hacking thing can be handled by a good software or hardware firewall, such as Zone Alarm (software) or a simple router (Linksys, in my case). Just make sure you protect against traffic going in and out, and you're set.

Feel free to drop me a line off-line if you have more questions. I work with this stuff daily.
