Just about to start the game and was wondering if there are any IMPORTANT tips or basic advice prior to me setting up my party and starting the adventure that I should know.

Thanks

Get the patches that you want and/or need and install them before you get going. Save you a few headaches later on.

Most important hint:

KILL EVERYTHING! :D :D :D (just kidding)

mitros last hint is wrong - do not kill everything. some genies will give you stuff, some people give you quests. knowing who to kill is easy, if they start red, kill them. else talk, or ignore.

explore everywhere. always take a thief, and always have him/her ahead scouting for traps. if the thief is invisible, so much the better.

always, always, always have healing potions, esp on your main char. somtimes clerics/druids are otherwise occupied when you need healing fast.

trust no-one

there are many secrets in unmarked buildings, so explore them. WARNING - many of these secrets are outrageously difficult.

i think that should ocver the most important points.

Just thought you should know, I found mages to be a lot tougher than in BG1. Make sure you're ready for them.

thanks to all for the hints. Just finished Wizards & Warriors where u could kust pretty much kill everything - Hope that this isn't like that.

Downloading a patch as I write.

Cheers

Heh, nope. If you go around and kill everything you are going to miss out on a heck of a lot of good stuff.
