For anyone interested, he's getting close to breaking George Sisler's long standing record. I believe he needs 14 more to tie and 15 to break it. IMO he's simply amazing.

Too bad he's playing in a team with almost the worst record in the AL, only Kansas is doing worse. :D

Well, I wish him the best of luck. I'm not into baseball much but it's nice to see a umm.. is making records at a foreign country. :D

They used to be good. Then they lost every good player. I really wonder how that happens.

They've under-achieved this year - especially Olerud (now gone) and Boone. Injuries may have been a factor. Martinez has had it (his knees are so bad my grandma could beat him around the bases), and they traded Garcia rather than lose him. They also imploded their bullpen over the last couple years (Sasaki, Rhodes, Nelson), which doesn't help.

Ichiro is one fast ... Too bad he's just aiming for average - with his swing, speed and the size of Safeco field, he could hit plenty of doubles and triples if he hit line drives instead of choppers. He's an impressive player, though.

He has 10 hits to go.

Yes it is indeed too bad. How can he be the only one that's playing in Seattle... tsktsk from one great season to the worst.

Well, if he keeps it up like this, the Yanks will probably offer him a contract for next year. All's well that ends well. :D

DONT you dare say that johnny. Seems every good player Seattle has had goes elsewhere. EX: John Olerud (gonna miss him), A Rod, K Griffy Jr, R Johnson, etc. Also they NEEDs a new manager. Melvin just ****s. :D

Yeah! He just did it last night with the count at 259 hits. Still there's two more games to go.

I wonder if they'll put an asterisk next to his name if he breaks the record, kinda like Roger Maris when he broke Babe Ruth's record of home runs in a season.

Ruth and Sisler played less games in a season than Ichiro and Maris.
