In the room past the room with round table I keep getting kill.

The answer is actually on the round table, you need to step on the tiles that shut off the traps, from outward-inward. Once you turn off all three of them, the lever in the round room will be operated, and clicking it will open the staircase.

I can get in the other room past the staircase i just get killed in that room

There's a trap there somewhere, if you have a Thief have him Detect Traps, and disarm them. Besides that, I don't know what other problem you could be having.
