apparently, a thief can backstab with any melee weapon a thief can normally carry. this includes dagger, short swords, katanas, wakasashis, ninja-tos, quarterstaff (yes, really) and so on. in ToB you can get a special thief ability called "use any item" which allows a thief to wield any weapons, armour or whatever, regardless of class limits, evil only etc. this does _not_ allow the thief to backstab with the Holy Avenger Sword, to my great disapointment.
acually, ive just recalled, i havent backstabed _anybody_ in BG2. strange? well consider that my theives are imeon and nalia and its not really very strange at all. and no, you cannot backstab with a missile weapon. at all. ever. |
thx andrewas for the intelligible answer *ahem cough, willard, cough*

Hey SPAMMERS !!
Double postings !! Hehe |
And the best backstab weapon is?
(Personally cutthroat +4?) |
IMHO--Celestial Fury is the best backstab weapon in SoA. Good damage (1d10+3) plus a good chance of stunning.
