A car is driving down a road at a high rate of speed. It is black, and has its lights off. Every streetlight in the area is off. There is no light from the moon.
A pedestrian is walking across the road at the same time the car is approaching. He is dressed in black, with black clothes, black shoes, a black coat, and a black hat. He does not have a flashlight or any kind of light source, and is not wearing anything reflective.
Yet the car stops and does not hit him. Why?
