As you can see im new to this whole notice board thingy, and i need some helpful hints and/or tips for SoA and ToB about creating NPC'c and tips to get me through the game itself any help will be Appreciated.

#1 Be a wild mage.

#2 Keep a well rounded party. As is, my party always include the following: Jah, Minsc, Me (mage), Vic, Jan (until I get Imoen back), and then whoever I feel like. This way I have 2 good fighters, a good cleric, a thief, and two good mages.

#3 Be a wild mage.

And that's pretty much it. Have fun.

Sorcerers beat all types of mages, they've got FAR more spells per day and you don't really NEED a big variety of spells like the mage has, seriously, I've completed SoA without using more than ten different spells I think.

I'd agree, and I would play a sorcerer, but sorcerers don't get the wild surge. If they mixed the two (legitly)...well that would be something else.

Something that would be cool would be a Sorcerer/Assasin, not necessarily a cool Powergaming class, but a cool roleplaying class, in my opinion anyway.

I agree with neb sorcerers are far better than mages, provided you pick your spells wiseley, undead hunters (paladins) are also really good because they are immune to level drain and there are a few undead in the game, as far as NPC's go anomen is pretty handy, especially at high level ( he can clear a room full of undead just using his turning ability. ) but he is a bit up himself, Minsc is a must (very funny) Jaheira is okay (better than Cernd.)Valygar duel wielding katanas, and Nalia isn't too bad for a while as a mage (good AC) but once again pretty anoying. (A lot depends on what alignment you play and how tolerant you are.) I HATE JAN (stupid @$#%*&@ gnome.)

Three NPCs that are "Must Have" NPCs are:

Minsc, Ranger, the best fighter and second funniest character in the game.

Aerie, Cleric/Mage, a bit whining and annoying at times, but with some above average equipment she is a killing machine, though she does suffer from low hitpoints.

Jan, Thief/Illusionist, the only NPC thief in the game which advances in his thief level, he's also an acceptable mage, as well as THE funniest character in the game, especially if you've got BOTH him and Minsc.

Yes sorcerers are better than mages, but I'd prefer my mage/mage or wild mage whatever its called http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

And my party is Minsc (Ranger),Anomen (Fighter,Cleric),Nalia (Mage,Thief),
Jaheira (fighter, druid) , Edwin (Mage/conjurer), And of course the main character http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif , Lazarus (Mage/mage).

Well my party is a bit wierd considering thier alignments, but they get along fine http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif...

Minsc and Edwin will get in a fight at some point.

Hehe, never had Aerie for longer than a few days. Minsc is good/funny but not essencial. There are other/ better figthers. Valygar have katanas, Keldorn is useful. I like Viconia, but Anomen is better for front line (two times more HP). But if you have Jaheira and Minsc/Valygar you have already two good front line guys. One an consider Mazzy, and if you want to lead your party take same class with more HP and you don need to care for Anomen.
Aerie - there are a lot of dreamers here who want to restore her wings and so on. She is useful at the beginning, later she is far far away with levels. She will be your weak spot untill she will gain higher level spells in the middle of ToB (and abilities). (Similarly with other multiclass NPCs, but Jaheira can got all druid is able to get in SoA and Jan is half theif (and very funny), so I would keep him, unless you will play thief.)
