What a nutbar! :D

Not only does he have his latest Foo Fighters album out, he also handled the drumming duties for Queens of the Stone Age's latest album as well as many live gigs with them (often with both bands on the same bill at festivals etc...) and now he pops up on Alec Empire's new album - on guitar...

He must be one of the hardest working musos around at the moment - and having the time of his life!

Aye, a multi-talented man be Dave Grohl.
It seemed odd to me that some people thought he was the permanent QOTSA drummer.. he was so for one album and tour, and understandably so, he spends plenty of time on music just within the one band.

True. It's also interesting to hear how the QOTSA influence has crept into One By One.

Personally I really think he should have quit when Curt passed on. I really can't say he's put out much of any value since then.

WOAH!!
That has to be the most HUMUNGOUS call I've heard in a long time
But hey, I guess it all depends on your taste. Personally i think his Foo Fighters output is great, and QOTSA being pretty much my fav band right now puts him even further up on a pedestal in my books
Also, have you heard the song he did with Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, 'Goodbye Lament'? A superb effort

I agree, he is a great musician. Hard working, deserves everything he gets.

I've seen him live with the Foos, and he is just awesome.

He's gone from being the drummer in the biggest rock band in the world (rock is just generalising.....), to guitarist and lead vocalist in one of the biggest modern day rock bands , to also drumming for QOTSA and other stuff.

He is truly talented. And funny too, the Foos videos never dissapoint!

And "No One Knows" is a kick ass song.

As for doing nothing of value since Nirvana, I couldnt disagree more. The Foos are awesome!

I have edited and rewritten this three times already. That statement is something I am shocked to read on a number of levels.

1.Why should someones death stop a musician from creating?
2.Why should your personal taste mean someone should stop creating?

You are talking about MUSIC. A musician doesn't just stop making music for the hell of it. Your statement reflects a glaring ignorance about what it is to possess the need to musically create once it is in you.

Dave Grohl is an incredibly giften musician, proficient on at least three instruments (Voice, guitar, drums) and is world class. Add to that his writing skills and entertaining abilities and you have a brilliant man who was kept in the shadows by Curt Cobains star, only to have room for his own star to shine once Curt left.

Foo Fighters is not meant to be Nirvana. Neither is QOTSA.

I could not disagree with you more.

But more on topic, I have to admit I'm not all that impressed by a large part of the Foo Fighters' output. Everlong from The Colour and the Shape is one of the most brilliant songs ever, and it's a pity none of the other Foo Fighters songs get even remotely close to the brilliancy of that particular song. The rest is entertaining, but often a bit too one-dimensional to really leave an impression; and it pales a bit next to Everlong. :(
But that's a matter of taste, of course. And even though their recorded efforts are slightly disappointed, I think their songs simply work better on stage.
