When you got a neutral guy(yoshimo,jan whatever) you cant have a rep of 1(minimal) without them leaving and when you got a rep of 20(maximal), they dont leave!!!!!!

Well, that's what it says on the reputation chart on page 240 of your BG2 game manual....I know, they are bias against evil.
