Darkstone, Balder's Gate, and such...

My computer game seem VERY dark with the brightness both in the games and my desktop are turned all the way up...

Some of the brightness programs at was offered does not take place in the games...

Desktop or Monitor? I dont mean to imply you clueless but some monitors are just that way..

The games you mentioned have both gamma and contrast adjustments try adjusting both and see if that helps. Some games though are meant to be dark to add depth to the game or an air of gloom.

What kind of video card do you have? On some, there are separate controls to configure gamma for D3D, Open GL, or 3Dfx. Depending on what driver you use for the game, you may have to tweak the gamma through the cards control panel.

Yeah, I have had to do that with some games - notably Battlespire which is VERY dark.

Another problem I have had in the past is with the monitor.... everything gradualy growing darker over a period of several weeks, but MUCH more noticeable in games than anything else. My monitor was dying. Got a new one now!
