Just curious, but I know that to upgrade the Mace of Disruption, you need the "200 chunks" of Illithium from the ore merchant in waukeen's Promenade.

My question is this (along with the spoiler): how do you complete the Temple of Helm's quest for that artist dude (he knows that the Illithium alloy is fake) at the Jysslev estate succesfully and still have the actual Illithium for the Mace of Disruption upgrade?

You can give to alloy to the church who accept it as a sculpture. But make sure you don't have the real stuff on you at the time or they'll take that instead.

After you acquire both the fake ore and the real ore go and talk to the artist. Drop the real ore on the ground BEFORE you talk to him. He will realize the ore you gave him is fake and start complaining. Pick up the real ore and head back to the temple. Talk to the priest that initiated the quest and he will accept the fake ore. This leaves you with the real ore to upgrade with.
