okay i'm in the illithid dungeon in the underdark and i'm at the last locked door. i have one mindflayer under my control. it won't let me open the door- says that a "mere mortal" would not be able to. so i turn slayer to open the door, but after a certain time, it says "you feel your control slipping" and then i die, whether i'm fighting the big brain or just waiting in the hallway. why do i die?is there any way to open the door without slayerizing?

You die because you let your control slip, and loses yourself to the dark taint of bhaal.

I never turned into the slayer to open the door. YOu don't need to.

the githyanki opened the door for me. if its past that, you need to kill the master-brain and that should open it up. all i did was launch a couple of cloudkills into the chamber with the master-brain, and just waited by the door until it opened, lol.

this happened to me 2 and i had to think about it

put the thrall collar on a flayer lead him up to the door the door will open automatically.
