I know the archer is a ranger. No where does the game state that an archer loses the ranger ability to charm animals... How come my archer can't?

The natural bond an archer has with animals is not as strong as that of an ordinary ranger or a beastmaster. I think this is meant to be in the game (I've got the same thing), but it could also be a bug (although in that case the official patch won't help) Nonetheless, archers are powerful enough already without the charm animal skill.

Not that the charm animal ability will make ANYONE powerful, PnP or otherwise.
