I don't really know how to do this...how do I import a character from BGI to SoA?

just copy your .chr files from you Characters directory in your BG1 folder to the Characters folder in BGII, then go into the game, start a new game, and when you come to the character screen, select Import, and Character File. Done.

Other Variant: Create a Save-Folder in the BGII-Directory and copy the final-save-folder from BG1 in this folder. Then select "import from saved game".
