Q: End of The World: would you stop it?

Lets say that a new computer enhanced interpretation of the book of Revelations said that the world would end, the good will go to heaven, and the rest dumped in a lake of fire if "action X" takes place. My question is, would you work hard to prevent "action X"?

By definition, the end of the world is pre-ordained by God, so that by stopping this, doesn't that make you Anti-God, or Evil? Is free will just so that you can either purify your soul or to wreck it...but not to change what events are ordained? Is it, by definition, Sinful and Evil to choose for the continued existance (and possible improvement)of mankind over the experiment end-game of the all powerful super-being known as God? I'm just curious as to where people would stand on this.

I gotta know RIGHT NOW!

(As it stands, this isn't only a vaguely religious discussion, it's a blatant religious discussion. And they're banned... Which is kind of sad. It would make for an interesting discussion. But check your PMs, Quietman.)

I would stop it cos I would want all people to have a chance to make their peace with God, not be tossed in a lake of fire.

Depends on whether or not you believe in some other-worldly, omnipitent being that controls are actions and destiny.

There's not much point in living a life you have no control over.

What about in times of slavery etc.? People still want to live to see, hear, smell, feel etc.

If in fact the world is pre-ordained by God, then your life is also. Your life has already been mapped out before you are born, every action you take is not through your own control, but through God's.

I will stop it, if I have the power to do so. Why?

If it is pre-ordained by the god, there is no harm in trying anyway. If it is not pre-ordained by the god, we better stop it for our survival. Either way, I am not giving in without a fight.

If it is pre-ordained by God, then you can't stop it, just as you have no control over whether you try to stop it or not. That decision has already been made.

True, but there is no sure way of know if it is pre-ordianed. The only sensible thing to do is to try to stop it any way we can and pray that we succeed. If we tried our best and still fails, then it is pre-ordained... just my 2 cents anyway.
