I get to the Dragon who puts an illusion on me and just as she starts my game fizzles Help please? The screen goes black but responds to the Start button.

you mean the game crashes at this point every time? if so, that is serious bug.
i'm kind of confused what you mean about "the start button" still working...could you clarify what you mean by this? (what button are you referring to?)

by start button he probaly mean the grey, rectangular object with the windows logo and the word "Start" on it. you know, the representation of ultimate evil in the bottom left of everyones screen?

this is what we call a BSOD, Black Screen Of Death, altho you dont normally get the start button. um. i guess that theres a corrupt file to do with adalon or her lair. its probly just your copy. try re-installing. or maybe you can find all the related files and replace them from a mates install.

of course it could be in the file that describes all your spell effects, a problem with your 3d card (so turn it off and see if that helps. i know its ugly but spare a though for those of us who played BG1), a problem with the script file, or a dozen other things. try turning down your graphics, and then re-installing, and if that dosent help, grab someone elses discs and do a _full_ install, so you get clean copies of all files. and if _that_ dosent work its probly some obscure hardware bug that nobody else will ever encounter.

nobody ever said life was fair. actually thinking a bit more, if you have a voodoo graphics card (or anythin by 3DFX, ever) its almost definatley that.
