first floods now a cyclone

Queensland has been having it tough these last few weeks with floods killing so many people but it looks like the worst is still to come. Cyclone Yasi is due to hit in about 6 hours and it is a big one. people have now been told to stop moving to somewhere safe and to stay where they are, it is to late to evacuate.

Apparently it's worse than Cyclone Tracy. Category 5 or something, I think it is. Queensland just isn't getting a break... It's already ripping up trees and tearing roofs off.

Yep it's worse than cyclone tracey which demolished Darwin in 74 and at least the same intensity as katrina that hit new orleans. They are saying that there will be 7 metre (20 feet) sea swells that will smash the coast.

Waves at 9.5 metres (30 feet).
Wind gusts now at 300kph.
The storm itself is reportedly the same size as the whole of North America.

People in distress can't be rescued. It's too dangerous for the rescue teams to even attempt to save them.

The majorly populated area's seem to have been lucky last night, the first light is breaking and people are emerging to some expected wind damage, but no major structure damage (that they can see yet)

Though I dare say some of the smaller area's in the direct path might bring some bad news this morning.
