Argh geek humour... and I get it :(

Something to note, it was posted in 1999 supposedly. That was when everyone still used 98, this guy must be a Linux user...

I would have to contest his views, ME was much, much , worse.

ME was just fickle. I really never had problems with it, but I was nice to my computer---only opened things if I was certain I had enough RAM free to do so, restarted periodically, and kept my hdd defragged. You know, the typical stuff that they encourage you to do, regardless of OS.

...Plus, a key knowledge of when to use ctrl-alt-del that would later prove completely useless in Windows XP, as the service is no longer as powerful as it was.

ICK.

<span style="color: lightblue">Those two things atleast aren't necesary on *nix. The lowest common denominator *nix filesystem - ext2 - takes care of itself quite well in terms of defragging, and it's successors (ext3, reiserfs, xfs, jfs...) do it even better. And there are *nix boxes out there that have uptime measured in years. I'm fairly sure *nix is usually better at RAM allocation, too (although I don't know much about that).
