I don't ever being so excited about a game in my entire life.

My review:

Neverwinter Nights meets Warcraft.

- emphasis on leveling up both in UNITS and BUILDINGS! So no more allowing enemies to blow up ur barracks because u can build 10 more. Specific Barracks can become hero Barracks that can train elite troops over time.

- more focus on culture and technology than MASS RUSH (I thought finally a game with a case for defense and technology!) Unlike the massive rushes in most RTS games, this is more about development and who has the better strategy rather than experience at mouse clicking.

- Heroes of both sides will feature very much like Warcraft 3 with a NWN interface.

- Cinematic Battles with over 1000 units. Each unit created is more like 10 little units that all think forthemselves and do different things. You can tell them to do one thing as well.

- Special unit abilities like Warcraft and Age of Mythology. Trolls grabbing friendly Orcs as clubs. Watch the Orc scream as it smashes into a Knight.
Tree Ents can disassemble buildings and hurl them at the enemy.

- Unit Morale and emotions: happy, scared, run away! A tree Ent on fire will losse control and run for water! A scared unit will run away or just shiver at the sight of a demon and collapse

- Excellent easy to use radial menu system like NWN to save FAST mouse clicking! No more moving ur mouse to unit an moving it miles away to access its spells. Neverwinter night system of radial menu that appears over the unit.

- Entire LOTR campaign

- MULTIPLAYER like Battle-net

- Each building is alive with people coming in and out of it. The detail of a building is amazing! Better than Command and Conquer or any RTS game I have seen!!!!!

- Cinema quality landscape and artwork. Watercolour landscapes and shadows of clouds... amazing! I thought I was watching the actual film at one stage.

THIS IS BY FAR the best game I have ever seen, and is awarded by E3, the best strategy of the 2004 year.

Release in Nov 2004.

Just read your post and it sounds very cool. I will have to read the link that you provided. Thanks.

Off the top of your head is there going to be some fee attched to the online play?

He cited Bnet as a comparison, Mack, so I think that would mean it's free. At least, Bnet is.

Perhaps the best part of the game is the emotions! Soldiers do actually get scared as well as inspired!

That would be great to see, so many games have tried to implement this but not many that I know of have succeded.

Sounds like a pretty hard thing to have, emotion in the soldiers, but this is a game i'm really really looking forward to. Will there be a decent sized single player campaign as well as all the multiplayer functions?

you've gotten me pretty excited, hard to wait for november

Yo man, why did you have to bring this up?? I mean seriously, both these games I know well and enjoy (although most noticably warcraft, way to noticably in fact!) And now you tell me this is coming, you better have "life wrecker" on your conscience for the rest of your live as of November 2004

I just have to chime in here. There's usually only going to be, in any strategy game, about 6-7 decent strategies. And when the period of exploring is over, everyone's going to be using them. I'm willing to bet that most people here can't manage the sheer amount of units that will be present. Therefore, multi-tasking will be essential. Micromanaging each unit becomes pointless, as it seems like units are killed very quickly. Can you use every single ability of your heroes, switch formations in battle, apply units to their best potential, etc., while keeping up production? The one who can manage these things the best will win. And that requires experience at clicking. Not only at putting your hero at the right spot to use the ability, but also to manage many different groups of creatures.

However, what I'm starting to dislike about this game is that from what I can see of it, it seems to be a quick kill, quick production game.
