It's not illegal to listen in to a police channel. It only becomes illegal if you transmit through it also.

It is only illeal if you act on what you hear and as Bokken said transmit.

It only becomes illegal if you transmit through it also. </font>[/QUOTE]No - it's illegal to be in posession of a police scanner </font>[/QUOTE]They aren't illegal, i could go down the street now... well not now, it's 12:30am but tomorrow and buy one if i wanted, it is also legal for news reporters to have scanners, how else would they get most of their storys, and often you will see a news crew arrive on the scene of a road accident etc before the police because they are constantly scanning.
At least where i'm from in NSW they are legal
