K, Ive got to the point where Madulf tells me he saw something down by the ranger cabin. I kill the shadows and fiends but can do nout else! Do i need to go to the temple ruins or wot? Plus will i need any specialist equipment. Oh Valygar or Anomen to go with Fighter(me), jaheira, Minsc, Nalia and Korgan. And can i let jahiera or minsc out of the group widout f888ing the story up!

you can always let minsc out of the group without any adverse consequences (aside from losing a really powerful fighter), but if your in a romance with jah then dumping her will break it.

you do have to go to the temple ruins, as the note in the rangers cabnin indicates. special equipment? no, but daystar would come in handy. things that work against undead generaly. just what you would usualy use when assaulting an abandoned, haunted temple.

the weakest of the SoA dragons in in the temple ruins area. you dont have to fight him, and unless you level 15 or so i would advise against it. theres a lot of anti-draogon stuff in windspear if your interested.

In the cabin there is a note by Mazzy Fentan, which will mark a place on your worldmap named Temple ruins. Go there, and the quest can continue.

Spoiler about sub-quests


To finish the main "umar hills killings" quest, just go to the temple ruins. (They appear on your world map after collecting the note in the ranger cabin). In Imnesvale there are some minor quests. One about chickens, one given you by the local cowlie (search for the blood of a mimic), one given by madulf. Another very minor one deals with the local teenage wildlife.
