(Apologies for posting this to both SoA and ToB forums, but it's relevant to both)
The BG2 Fixpack is a WeiDU compilation of fixes for Baldur's Gate II. With the disappearance of Kevin Dorner and the cessation of activity of the Baldurdash fixpack for BG2, several modders form many modding communities began working on a new WeiDU fixpack to address the numerous bugs that have been identified since Baldurdash. This collaborative effort, including the work of modders from several different modding communities, has resulted in a fixpack that currently includes all of the fixes addressed by Baldurdash (including the Game Text Update) and several hundred new bugfixes. The project is ongoing, and we're working through a substantial list of bugs culled from various sites, the old Baldurdash forums, and our own research. Relevant links:</font>

nifty - adj. Amer. slang. 1. Containing or possessing a greal deal of nift.
And the best part is, it contains both BaldurDash fixpacks, so I no longer have to tell people "Don't install the SoA Fixpack if you've already installed ToB" and stuff. Sweetness! [ 07-11-2006, 12:26 AM: Message edited by: SixOfSpades ] |
Complete with Six of Spades input. Now you can argue against all the stuff I deemed 'spurious'.

Just like how it was done previously, I would prefer if people kept 'fix' and 'tweak' seperate.
Changing items wholesale is tweaking. Correcting item descriptions is fixing. We could argue until the cows come home on whether the Firetooth dagger should be nerfed, but that should be under a seperate mod for game balance. It will not fall under the realm of bugfixing. ~~~~ ~~~~ One thing I am never quite sure on whether it is a bug, is the issue of STR damage bonuses applying to Slings. Why create an item that specifically states it adds STR damage bonuses when practically every other sling already does? ~~~~ ~~~~ Is there any way to fix the Bag of Holding bug that enables you to recharge items placed in it? ~~~~ ~~~~ Remove the Level-Drain immunity from the Berserker's Rage. It is not stated in its' description. I believe this was an oversight by the makers. |

(Damn. Just looked them up, and saw that all Throwing Daggers are usable by Cavaliers and Kensai, even though Darts are not. Anybody want to explain this?) |

We know that not everyone will agree with every one of our fixes. But, overall, we've done our best to be very conservative in our interpretation and bugfixes, and feedback is encouraged. Keep it coming. |
so is it possible to download/install each fix separately like it was for baldurdash.
btw, is the famous potion swapping exploit to cast from scrolls (particualrly find familiar) fixed? Or is it hard coded too? :( couldn't find it in forums. |

This is one of the reasons why we weighted the bug determination so heavily. On the upside, the Game Text Update and OBC are separate components and can be chosen separately. Quote:

Dunno if it's a bug or not, given that there's a general lack of good chuckers in the game it's not a real game-breaker, unless you cheese it and abuse Firetooth to hell and back. (Like, there's only one returning throwing axe in the game, one throwing hammer, and the dagger. A grand total of 3 returning weapons that could potentially be cheesed.) |
I really should visit here more often. Fixpack is not only out of beta, but at v2.

Re: BG2 Fixpack Released at G3
What's the controversy with firetooth dagger? I read that there's only 1 returning ax in the game, but I believe there's 2. The +3 from SoA and the +4 that knocks opponent back in ToB. What is "cheesed"?
What's the famous potion swapping exploits? Are you suppose to be able to steal and sell fenced goods legally? Sounds like a cheat to me, but I did that before ever getting online and finding real cheats to just avoid the long ritual of steal and sell. I had "cheated" in some bags of holding for each of my characters to try and simplify the game a bit and then realized that each bag was essentially the same bag, but on each person. I'm guessing each in the game has a different item code so this shouldn't happen, but it's a nice byproduct allowing you to share items between each other without having to remember who is carrying what. Just look in the bag and it's there. This is all new to me since I'm still going through for the first time so I'm learning. Lots of good info on this site that's clearing up things for me. Thanks for all the great help! |

Can be used for characters who can't cast scrolls to do so. Expecially useful to cast find familiar by any character. |
