So this geezer on this forum tells me thie ring of gaxx is in a house in the docks next to the temple of ogoroth or something. Its not. So where is it?

You mean the temple of Oghma? Your friend's partially right: the ring *is* in a house in the Docks District, only not in next to the Temple. The house you're looking for is the one between Mae'Var's Guildhouse and the Sea's Bounty Tavern.
Be careful, there's a trap on the door and a difficult fight waiting behind it (after you find the quest components, that is).
