Here are a few riddles to tease your minds

1. I never was, am always to be,
No one ever saw me, nor ever will
And yet I am the confidence of all
To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball."

2. Two brothers we are,
Great burdons we bear,
On to which we are bitterly pressed.
Needless to say,
We are full all the day,
And empty when we go to rest.

3. What has Claws at the end of its paws,
and what a pause at the end of its clause.

4. Here on Earth it's always true,
that a day follows a day.
But there is a place where yesterday
always follows today!

5. Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the
Tallest mountain in the world?

6. Voiceless it cries,
wingless it flutters,
Toothless it bites,
and mouthless mutters

7. Alive without breath,
as cold as in death,
Never thirsty, ever Drinking,
dressed in mail never clinking.

8. This thing all things devours,
birds, beasts, trees, flowers.
Gnaws iron, bites steel,
Grinds hard stones to meal,
slays kings, ruins towns,
And beats high mountains down

9. Has a mouth but does not speak,
has a bed but never sleeps,
always runs but has no legs,
often murmurs never talks.

10. You break it even if you name it!

11. My life can be measured in hours,
I serve by being devoured,
Thin, I am quick,
Fat, I am slow,
Wind is my foe.

12. What is more powerful than God
More evil than Satan
The poor have it
The rich don't need it
And if you eat it you'll die

13. I begin eternity,
And end space,
At the end of time,
And in every place,
Last in life,
Second to death,
Never alone,
Found in your breath,
Contained by earth,
Water or flame,
My grandeur so awesome,
Wind dare not tame,
Not in your mind,
Am in your dreams,
Vacant to Kings,
Present to Queens.

14. What runs around a city, but never moves?

15. What has 4 legs in the morning,
2 in the afternoon,
and 3 at night.

Well thats about all I have time for, for now. I will give everyone time to answer before I give out answers and then prehaps add some more if everyone likes them.

Congrats on #13 Lioness - that and #15 had / have me stumped. I am sure that I have heard that last one before....

Ronn_Bman 02-27-2002 10:34 AM

The last one is similar to the riddle of the Sphinx - what walks on 4 legs, then 2, and finally 3 - to which the answer is man, but this one isn't phrased the same

~confuddled~ I've never understood how you do about solving riddles... Does each sentence give you a letter of the word or something?
