I use a voodoo 2 aswell, and have had the same problem. I guess it could be down to the fact that the game needs to animate in 2 as well as 3 dimensions at the same time. If you've bought a dedicated 3d card it can't do the 2d bit so the game can't use that video card. Therefore, you're stuck with the original card you had in the first place. Anyone want to confirm or deny this?

I have a Voodoo 2 and have not had this problem - I know you probably have this covered, but have you downloaded the latest drivers for the Voodoo 2? Have you downloaded all the latest patches for the game?

Voodoo 2 doesn't support 3d spell animations, so make sure that is turned off. Also try checking the 'BLT mirror' box, and make sure it is in 16 bit mode and that the resolution is not too high.

I suspect that, like me, you may decide that it is a good time to upgrade your graphics card though. The Voodoo 2 is a crappy card - although it was OK at the time (3 years ago) it is now old and wrinkled with no hair or teeth!! You can get much better cards for less than £100 (sterling). If you don't have much spare cash, don't go for the brand new shiny ones, but get a slightly older one (like one of last year's Hercules cards, they are supposed to be very good). It will be much better, and won't cost you much more than a new game would.

With my old Voodoo3, playing BG2 in 3d accelerated mode was significantly more ugly than in normal, plain 2d mode. I think it has to do with Voodoo's not being able to use 32-bit textures. So if it doesn't work, its no big loss. Although it *might* have sped things up a tad.
