I think this is pretty funny. I do not know much about politics, but it appears from this story that all these democratic lawmakers are hiding in another state to avoid doing their jobs, and are now being sought after to be arrested!

This is already in a thread :
http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...;f=10;t=015681 Don't you read each and every thread on the entire board? LOL (kidding) [ 05-13-2003, 09:04 AM: Message edited by: harleyquinn ] |
Yeah I was listening to this on the radio, seems like they do not want to do what they are being paid to do, so they ran and hid. The thing is though, they can't be forced back into session...the Rangers were just sent out to find them not arrest them. Talk about wasting tax payer money...and they are already bitching about their budget problems

Although I am certain they are doing what they think is right, the responsible thing to do is show up and vote, even if they are going to lose. Representative democracy is not about whining if you don't get your way ("I'm not winning, so I'm taking my marbles and going home"); it is about voting for what is in the best interest of your constituents.
As I said in the other thread, running and hiding will ultimately hurt only one group of people: Democrats. Of course, the redistricting plan facing the Texas Legislature will effect the US House of Representatives, which means that it could have an effect on everyone. |
Oops...sorry...I did not see that other thread. I see no reason to continue the discussion here then.
GenCon Mods can lock me down. Thanks |
